In 2009, during the 2nd International Youth Conference on Energy conference, members of the Student Association of Energy decided to form the Joint Student Branch Chapter of the Industry Aplications and the Power & Energy Societies.
The main goal was expanding connections and establishing a stronger international presence.
In 2010, the Chapter got its first award for the activities in 2009, the "IAS Outstanding Student Branch Chapter" award. The success story continued in the following years, the chapter winning IAS and PES awards each year, and members attending various international conferences and trainings.
Main activities of the Joint IAS/PES SBC include:
Organizing the International Youth Conference on Energy, a conference technically co-sponsored by IEEE societies, member of the student-led IAS Club of 6 conferences.
Organizing lectures within the Distinguished Lecturer Program.
Organizing internal programs, soft and hard skill trainings and team building events.
Organizing joint events with other SBCs and organizational units within the Hungary Chapter and beyond.
In 2023, members of the IAS/PES SBC decided to form a new chapter for the Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society. Their goal was to bring nuclear energy closer to the public, by organizing lectures, trainings and cooperating with other nuclear organizations in the country.
Since its formation in 2023, activities of the NPSS SBC include:
Organizing lectures within the Distinguished Lecturer Program.
Cooperating with other nuclear organizations in Hungary by organizing lectures, workshops and raising awareness about nuclear energy.
Cooperating with the IAS/PES SBC and the Student Association of Energy in nuclear and plasma-themed events.
